South Portland, Maine
one-of-a-kind historic home, South Portland Maine
It is located in an area which was originally a well-established neighborhood known as Cushings Point, with streets lined with homes that had been passed down through generations. When World War II began, the area was identified as ideal for a shipyard and residents were given short notice that their homes were being taken by eminent domain. Most houses were either torn down or moved, with only a few selected houses left to be used by the shipyard. The Cushings Point House is the only remaining one of those houses from the pre-World War II era.
The house was moved in 2009 and in 2010, the South Portland Historical Society opened Cushing's Point Museum at Bug Light Park
